The Birmingham Rep is the city’s world-class producing theatre, offering inclusive, exceptional, and unforgettable live theatre experiences. Performances are held on its three stages—The House, The Door, and The Studio—as well as in the West End and internationally. The Rep also brings theatre to local communities through performances in schools, parks, and public spaces. Committed to nurturing artistic talent, The Rep supports young professionals through new writing, directing, and technical programmes, while partnering with national and international projects. As Birmingham’s only producing theatre and a National Portfolio Organisation (NPO), The Rep strives to reflect the city’s diversity and be a theatre for everyone, promoting inclusion across all aspects of its work.
The Young Rep youth theatre introduces children to drama from age 3 to 25, offering them opportunities to perform in major events like the annual summer festival, which in 2024 featured 400 performers across various groups.
We strive to embed creativity across the curriculum and connect students directly to the theatre industry. Our team of facilitators deliver bespoke workshops tailored to a variety of educational settings throughout the region, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to engage with the arts in a meaningful way.
Being able to be a partner of the Playhouse Project is hugely important to us; it supports our commitment to developing a love of theatre for everyone, provides excellent continuous professional development to teaching staff, and inspires children to explore their creativity.
