Playhouse specially commissions professional playwrights to collaborate with theatres and schools, to develop scripts that are relevant and topical to young people today.
Scripts are developed through collaboration and consultation with children. They have a focus on the choral and ensemble, making them bespoke for up to a class size of KS2 children to perform.
In Wales, at least one of these scripts are also offered in Welsh language every year.
Previous Playhouse writers have included; Julia Donaldson, Mike Kenny, David Wood, Philip Radley and Alun Saunders to name a few. The following professional writers who have been commissioned or recommissioned for Playhouse 2024-2025 will be announced soon!
